Rundle Bar Reopens
BANFF, AB July 3, 2020 – Today, Fairmont Banff Springs has officially reopened the Rundle Bar, its main hotel bar in the heart of the Castle, after an extensive $5 million renovation.
Originally designed and utilized as the front lobby in the historic Banff Springs Hotel from 1928 to the late 1990s. The renovated space boasts an impressive two-story main bar equipped with a rolling library ladder and custom bronze and wood engraving, a newly appointed cocktail bar on Mezzanine II with supreme views of Cascade Mountain and a dedicated stage featuring a grand piano to create the perfect après atmosphere. An expansive speakeasy-style private room on the main level is masked by bookshelves and floor-to-ceiling doors, while the inviting interior is home to exposed brick accents, an intimate fireplace and contemporary art that transform into 4K televisions.
“The newly renovated Rundle Bar is a fabulous new addition to the grand ‘Castle in the Rockies’,” says David Roberts, General Manager of Fairmont Banff Springs and Regional Vice President of Canada’s Western Mountain Region. “With the expertise of Calgary-based Frank Architecture, we’ve designed a truly magnificent bar and we are delighted to welcome guests to experience the next era of the Rundle Bar to create another 100 years of memories in this historic space.”
Executive Chef Robert Ash has unveiled a new menu featuring classic lounge favourites complemented by globally-inspired small plate dishes, while the bar is serving both classic and novel hand-crafted cocktails including rotating cocktails on tap, local craft beer and an extensive wine list. Fairmont Banff Springs’ signature Afternoon Tea has also returned to the Rundle Bar from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm daily with a well-curated traditional menu and subtle hints of Canadiana cuisine to continue the 132-year-old ritual at the Castle.
To align with the grand opening, The Rundle Bar has launched a signature Rundle Bar Gin in partnership with Canmore-based Wildlife Distillery, which can be tasted in cocktails throughout the hotel and purchased at STOCK Food & Drink.
The Rundle Bar is open daily from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 a.m. Reservations for Rocky Mountain Afternoon Tea can be made here. For more information on the Rundle Bar, visit here.
